Backstory
BD-7 wasn’t built for war. Like the rest of the BD-series, he was designed as a field-support unit — scouting ahead, cataloging information, patching wounds, and keeping lone explorers alive in hostile environments. But BD-7’s path diverged when his assigned master, an Outer Rim prospector, was killed in a crossfire between Imperial troops and smugglers on Rishi. Abandoned in the ruins of the firefight, BD-7 hid among the wreckage, his holoscan module recording every detail, his little stim injector flickering as if willing someone back to life. He waited for weeks, surviving off instinct and routines, until someone finally came. That someone was Ari Daxx. The bounty hunter was tracking a fugitive across Rishi’s jungle when he stumbled on the little droid. At first, Ari ignored it — a stray support droid wasn’t worth a second glance. But BD-7 didn’t ignore him. The droid trailed him through the undergrowth, climbing onto his back when Ari was ambushed by local predators. In the chaos, BD-7 jabbed Ari with a stim injector, closing a wound before it could kill him. The droid then scanned the terrain, alerting Ari to a hidden escape route. Ari survived the ambush only because of BD-7’s intervention. For a man as cold and calculating as Daxx, this was not lost on him. He didn’t express it, but he allowed the droid to remain. Over time, BD-7 proved invaluable: patching wounds mid-battle, hacking locks, warning him of ambushes, and, in its quiet, nonverbal way, offering a companionship Ari never sought but grudgingly came to rely on. Now, when Ari Daxx’s silhouette appears at the edge of a cantina or docking bay, BD-7 is perched on his shoulder or clambering silently over his gear. The little droid’s presence unnerves some — a silent, glowing-eyed watcher that seems to know things before they happen. Where Daxx is feared, BD-7 is respected, whispered about as the “hunter’s shadow.” Together, they are more than bounty hunter and droid — they are a seamless pair, each completing the other’s ruthless efficiency.
Roleplaying notes
- Quiet Loyalty – BD-7 never leaves Ari’s side. He shadows him constantly, creating the impression that Ari and the droid are one inseparable unit. - Cold Reflector – Like Ari, BD-7 projects an aura of detachment. He doesn’t rush to help others, only showing care when it involves Ari. - Unsettling Watcher – His glowing sensors linger on people a bit too long, making others uneasy, as if he’s recording everything. - Minimal Movements – Instead of playful hops like BD-1, BD-7 moves in efficient, deliberate motions — no wasted energy. - Bonded Behavior – Mirrors Ari subtly: if Ari leans back, BD-7 tilts his head the same way; if Ari goes still, the droid freezes too. - Moral Silence – Never “comments” or interferes with Ari’s decisions, even brutal ones — reinforcing Ari’s feared reputation by his silent approval. - Presence in the Dark – Sometimes only his glowing optics are visible in the shadows near Ari, amplifying Ari’s intimidating presence.
