The Next Generation of Star Wars Tabletop Adventure

    Duros

Duros are tall, hairless humanoids from the Duro system and are counted among the galaxy’s earliest and most influential spacefarers. Many scholars credit the Duros with pioneering the first practical hyperdrive, and even in later eras they remain synonymous with star charts, long-haul hyperspace routes, and daring exploratory jumps. Their natural grasp of complex mathematics and astrogation makes them prized pilots and navigators, and Duros spacers can be found in ports from the Core Worlds to the Unknown Regions. Over the centuries, Duros have spread far from their orbital cities, establishing colonies and adapting to life on countless worlds. Some became explorers and scouts mapping new routes, others smugglers and freelance pilots, and many threw in with causes like the Rebellion or the Resistance when the Empire and its successors threatened free travel. Their close genetic kin, the Neimoidians, diverged from Duros stock long ago, following a very different cultural path.

Home Planet: Duro (Core Worlds – orbital city-stations)
Physical Description: Duros average about 1.8 meters in height, with smooth blue-green or blue-gray skin, large red or dark eyes, and long, thin faces with lipless mouths. They are completely hairless, and their features can appear gaunt or severe to other species. Beneath the skin, their biology includes green blood and rib sacs that can exude a foul-smelling oil under extreme stress—an ancient defense mechanism from when they were prey on their homeworld. Their lean frames hide quick reflexes and a surprisingly enduring tolerance for long hours in cramped cockpits.

    Average Height: 1.8 meters
    Average Weight: 70 kilograms
Age of Adulthood: 15 standard years

Personality & Customs: A typical Duros is intense, curious, and adventure-minded, always wondering what lies beyond the next hyperspace jump. They are proud of their long history as explorers and pilots, with a strong streak of self-reliance and a fondness for lively company in spaceport cantinas. Duros tend to be gregarious and fun-loving when off duty, but become sharply focused and precise when seated at a helm or working through an astrogation problem. Culturally, they view space as their true home and often feel more comfortable aboard a starship than on any planet’s surface. Many Duros families maintain long traditions of service as pilots, navigators, or scouts, passing down star charts, route legends, and ritual phrases—such as “Let us become spears”—that express their drive to strike out into the unknown. This heritage also fuels a quiet disdain for those who underestimate the dangers of hyperspace or take the work of professional spacers for granted.
