The Next Generation of Star Wars Tabletop Adventure

    Gen'Dai

The Gen'Dai are a nearly immortal Species of enigmatic nomads whose bodies are composed of dense, regenerative muscle-tentacles rather than rigid bones and centralized organs. Their elaborate distributed nervous and vascular systems allow them to shrug off injuries that would instantly kill most beings—impalement, dismemberment, exposure to vacuum—only slowing them down as their bodies methodically knit themselves back together. Tales of Gen'Dai surviving for millennia are common, and even conservative estimates place many individuals at several thousand standard years old.

Once a peaceful people, the Gen'Dai were forever changed when their homeworld was devastated and ultimately lost. With no planet to return to, they became wanderers spread across the galaxy, often turning their immense resilience and combat potential into a profession. Some become bounty hunters, mercenaries, or warlords; others act as grim, long-lived observers of history, watching empires rise and fall while they persist.

Despite their frightening reputations, most Gen'Dai are not mindless killers. They tend to think on vast timescales, weighing actions carefully and favoring honor, oaths, and personal codes of conduct. However, their extraordinary lifespans come with a cost: as centuries pass, many Gen'Dai suffer from fraying mental stability—fragmented personalities, deep depression, or outright psychosis that can turn introspective guardians into unpredictable threats.

Home Planet: Unknown (lost Gen'Dai homeworld)
Physical Description: At a glance, a Gen'Dai appears to be a towering humanoid with broad shoulders, thick limbs, and skin tones ranging from light red to deep purple. Their eyes commonly glow in shades of orange, yellow, or red, and mandible-like protrusions jut from their cheekbones, giving their faces a predatory, skeletal cast. Most Gen'Dai stand well over two meters tall and carry themselves with the relaxed confidence of beings who are very hard to kill. Beneath this imposing exterior lies their true physiology: a writhing mass of regenerative tentacles, densely packed into a roughly humanoid shape. Armor and clothing serve less as protection and more as containment, keeping their constantly shifting tissues from spilling free. Their distributed body structure allows them to endure horrific trauma, re-forming around injuries that would destroy conventional organ systems. Only catastrophic destruction of their nervous core—such as a decisive strike at the neck and head—can truly end a Gen'Dai's life.

    Average Height: 2.5 meters
    Average Weight: 145 kilograms
Age of Adulthood: 201 standard years

Personality & Customs: As a Species, the Gen'Dai are often introspective, patient, and slow to act. When your natural lifespan is measured in thousands of years, impulsive decisions feel wasteful, and the consequences of any choice can echo across centuries. Many Gen'Dai follow strict personal codes or oaths that define how they fight, who they serve, and when they will accept defeat. They prize honor over glory, and some even request a warrior's death when they feel their purpose has been fulfilled. However, longevity has a psychological price. Over the millennia, many Gen'Dai experience increasing mental strain—fragmented personalities, erratic moods, or deep, lingering sorrow as they outlive allies, enemies, and entire civilizations. This growing instability can lead to bouts of violence, grim detachment, or obsession. They rarely form lasting bonds with shorter-lived Species, knowing they will almost certainly outlive those connections. As a result, Gen'Dai wander the galaxy as feared champions, bounty hunters, or solitary nomads, occasionally stepping into history as terrifying foes or reluctant allies. Adventuring Gen'Dai are rare but memorable. Some become Scouts or Soldiers who leverage their resilience in the harshest battlefields imaginable. Others use their endurance and perspective to amass power, influence, or wealth over centuries. While tales persist of Gen'Dai who fought alongside or against Jedi, none are known to have formally joined the Jedi Order.
