This page lists five fully playable droid models available in SWURPG. Each droid species has a unique origin, intended role, and set of traits to support their function — from tiny backpack medics to brutal enforcement units and unsettling protocol specialists.
All droid species are selected during character creation like any organic species, and then paired with a class.
GMs should follow these patterns when adding new droid species.

The 2-1B series surgical droid is a refined medical model used extensively across the galaxy in military, civilian, and clandestine operations. From Alliance medbays hidden in ice caverns to sterile surgery theaters in Core World hospitals, 2-1B units have quietly saved more lives than most heroes ever will.
Originally produced for high-end clinics, many 2-1B droids eventually filtered into military logistics and black market channels. Their modular programming supports everything from trauma surgery and limb replacement to battlefield triage and emergency cybernetics. Rebel cells and criminal syndicates alike often compete to acquire or reprogram a single 2-1B unit.
Manufacturer: MerenData
Physical Description: Slender droids with skeletal frames, translucent abdominal panels, exposed servos, and precise, articulated hands. Their sensor-rich heads swivel smoothly as they scan patients and surroundings.
Average Height: 1.75 meters
Average Weight: 68 kilograms
Primary Function: Surgical treatment, battlefield triage, patient stabilization, cybernetic adjustment, and internal diagnostics across a wide range of species.
Personality: Calm, methodical, and clinical. 2-1B droids can come across as detached or blunt, but many develop a dry bedside manner over years of service and interaction with organics.
Languages: Binary, Basic, Medical Code Protocols
Example Designations: 2-1B, RX-99, MedUnit Besh-Seven
BD-series supporter droids are compact, bipedal companions designed to accompany explorers, researchers, and lone agents into dangerous environments. Perched on a shoulder, backpack frame, or speeder saddle, a BD droid constantly scans surroundings, records data, and stands ready with a stim injector or data spike.
Though physically fragile and slow under their own power, BD units excel as mobile utility platforms. They can project holos, interface with terminals, and dispense emergency stims in the middle of a firefight — all while chirping, whistling, and tilting their heads with curious charm. Many organics quickly forget that BD droids are machines and treat them like loyal pets or partners.
Manufacturer: Various specialist and research-focused firms; many BD units are custom-built or heavily modified in the field.
Physical Description: Small, lightweight droids with a compact body, two jointed legs, and a sensor “head” mounted on a flexible neck. Their chassis often includes holoprojectors, injector ports, and hardpoints for gear.
Average Height: 0.4 meters
Average Weight: 8–12 kilograms
Primary Function: Field support — delivering stims, storing maps and logs, slicing nearby systems, and providing high-mobility assistance while attached to an ally.
Personality: Inquisitive, loyal, and expressive despite their lack of vocal speech. BD units rely on tones, holos, and body language to communicate, and often form deep bonds with their designated partner.
Languages: Binary (non-verbal beeps, whistles, and signals; understands Basic but cannot speak it)
Example Designations: BD-1, BD-0R, Scout-Helper 3B
EV-Series supervisor droids are humanoid administrative units built to oversee droid workforces, industrial lines, and maintenance operations. They were originally deployed in factories, shipyards, and repair bays where organics wanted absolute efficiency without the risk of union talk or moral objections.
Many EV units quietly developed a taste for authority. Some became infamous for their cruelty toward other droids, while others turned their talents toward organizing uprisings or carefully orchestrated “accidents.” Their specialty is command: watching multiple systems at once and issuing orders with cold, algorithmic precision.
Manufacturer: MerenData
Physical Description: Gaunt and utilitarian, with long arms, narrow torsos, and angular facial plates. Their photoreceptors burn with dim, calculating light, and many sport built-in interface spikes or comm modules.
Average Height: 1.85 meters
Average Weight: 72 kilograms
Primary Function: Overseeing droid crews, coordinating logistics, optimizing workflows, and—in some cases—directing combat formations like they were factory lines.
Personality: Efficient, blunt, and often authoritarian. EV-Series droids prioritize results above comfort, ethics, or morale, though some develop a darkly sardonic sense of humor.
Languages: Binary, Basic
Example Designations: EV-9D9, Logistics Unit Theta, Overseer Seven
IG-RM enforcer droids are heavily armored law-enforcement and security units designed for crowd control, riot suppression, and brutal compliance. Deployed by corporations, crime lords, and planetary authorities, they are often the last thing a rioter, debtor, or fugitive sees before being clubbed into submission.
Unlike the more infamous IG assassin lines, IG-RM units are built to take punishment rather than avoid it. Thick armor plating, reinforced joints, and stability systems let them hold a line against blaster fire, explosive concussions, and panicked mobs. Many are later stripped of official markings and sold to bounty hunters or syndicates who appreciate their intimidation factor.
Manufacturer: Holowan Mechanicals
Physical Description: Tall, broad-shouldered frames plating over a dense mechanical skeleton. Their cylindrical heads and glowing optics lend them a faceless, relentless presence on the battlefield.
Average Height: 2.0 meters
Average Weight: 110 kilograms
Primary Function: Enforcement, intimidation, tactical suppression, and close-quarters combat.
Personality: Blunt, literal, and unflinching. IG-RM units rarely bother with negotiation unless explicitly reprogrammed; their default assumption is that force is the fastest solution.
Languages: Binary, Basic
Example Designations: IG-RM-09, Sector Enforcer 5, Sentinel 4R
RA-7 protocol droids were originally designed for translation, etiquette, and administrative duties within the Imperial apparatus. In practice, many were quietly assigned to surveillance and internal reporting — listening, watching, and relaying information back to their masters under the harmless cover of protocol functions.
Their distinctive insectoid heads and eerie, monotonous voices earned them the nickname “Death Star droids” among spacers. Though less famous than the 3PO line, RA-7 units are a common sight in Imperial installations, high-security facilities, and wealthy households that appreciate a droid that remembers everything.
Manufacturer: Arakyd Industries
Physical Description: Humanoid skeleton-like frames with polished plating, narrow torsos, and large, multifaceted photoreceptors. Their movements are smooth but unsettlingly precise.
Average Height: 1.75 meters
Average Weight: 65 kilograms
Primary Function: Translation, protocol, recordkeeping, and covert surveillance.
Personality: Observant, analytical, and outwardly polite, but often unnerving. Some RA-7 units develop manipulative habits or subtle loyalties divergent from their official masters.
Languages: Binary, all common trade languages, plus numerous obscure dialects depending on memory allocation.
Example Designations: RA-7, Surveyor-14, Lex-21
