The Next Generation of Star Wars Tabletop Adventure

    Gloovan

Gloovans are large, purple-skinned humanoids known throughout the galaxy for their intimidating presence, blunt demeanor, and seemingly endless tolerance for rough work. Thick-skinned in every sense, they move with the heavy confidence of beings built to absorb punishment and keep going. Spacers often assume any Gloovan they meet is muscle for hire, and many underworld syndicates are more than happy to reinforce that stereotype by putting Gloovans at the front of their operations.

But that reputation is only half the story. While plenty of Gloovans do become enforcers, raiders, or gang lieutenants, just as many quietly live out ordinary lives as dock overseers, convoy guards, miners, or community protectors. Their culture places a strong emphasis on keeping one’s word, honoring deals, and protecting those under your care—values that can express themselves as criminal loyalty as easily as communal leadership. Those who know them well understand that behind the brutal exterior lies a surprisingly nuanced sense of honor and responsibility.

Home Planet: Unknown; Gloovans rarely speak openly about their world of origin.
Physical Description: Gloovans are massive, powerfully built bipeds typically standing well over 2 meters tall. Their hairless skin is a deep, dark purple, thick and resilient, and covered in irregular bumps, folds, and wrinkles that add to their rough, stone-like appearance. Their wide, flat noses sit above large nostrils, and their huge mouths bristle with sparse but razor-sharp teeth, giving even a neutral expression a vaguely predatory look. Their eyes are usually pale blue, with pupils so small they can seem absent at a casual glance. Gloovans do not appear to have visible external ears, yet they hear just fine and can speak clear Galactic Basic. Their overall silhouette is that of a walking battering ram: heavy shoulders, thick arms, and a center of mass built to endure impact rather than dodge it.

    Average Height: 2.1 meters
    Average Weight: 140 kilograms
Age of Adulthood: 18 standard years

Personality & Customs: Stereotypes paint Gloovans as thugs and brutes, but their own values revolve around loyalty, obligation, and straightforward conduct. They prefer clear terms over hidden clauses, direct speech over clever misdirection, and action over empty talk. Many Gloovans subscribe to personal honor codes that emphasize keeping promises, repaying debts, and refusing to betray those who have placed trust in them. Culturally, they have little patience for elaborate deception. Lies, half-truths, and manipulative schemes are viewed as signs of weakness or cowardice rather than cleverness. This attitude can clash sharply with the politics of the Core Worlds, but it makes Gloovans reliable allies once trust is earned. Their communities—whether on their distant, unnamed homeworld or in diaspora enclaves on frontier stations—tend to be tightly knit, with an expectation that everyone contributes. Adventuring Gloovans often come from backgrounds where their strength and resilience have already been tested: former hired muscle trying to chart a different path, raiders seeking redemption or bigger scores, caravan guards who simply kept walking after the job ended, or local champions forced offworld by changing regimes. No matter their past, most carry an internal code that shapes how and when they’ll fight, what lines they won’t cross, and who they will stand beside when things turn ugly.

Languages: Gloovan; many also speak Basic, especially those who work offworld.
