The Next Generation of Star Wars Tabletop Adventure

    Lasat

Lasats are a towering, powerfully built humanoid Species native to the hidden Wild Space world of Lira San, though most of their known history centers on the Outer Rim colony world of Lasan. For generations, the galaxy believed the Lasat had been driven to the brink of extinction when the Galactic Empire unleashed a brutal campaign against Lasan, annihilating the Lasan High Honor Guard, shattering its royal leadership, and slaughtering much of the population with T-7 ion disruptor rifles. In truth, millions of Lasats still lived on their isolated, ancestral homeworld of Lira San, but to most of the galaxy they became a people of whispered legend, remembered only through scattered survivors, old records, and the echo of their warrior traditions.

Physically, Lasats are defined by their exceptional height, strength, and agility. A two-meter-tall Lasat is considered below average for the Species, and their muscular digitigrade legs allow them to run faster, jump higher and farther, and move more quietly than most Humans. Their large finger pads and prehensile toes make them natural climbers, while their keen eyes and sensitive ears grant them superior sight and hearing. Fur patterns vary widely and can shift with age; no two Lasats share the same striping, and many develop new markings as they grow older. Strong odors, considered perfectly normal among their own kind, can be overwhelming to some other Species. Facial hair serves as an important cultural marker of status, and Lasats with green eyes and prominent purple stripes are often viewed as particularly attractive.

Culturally, Lasats place great value on strength, honor, and loyalty to their people and traditions. The Lasan High Honor Guard, composed of highly trained and intelligent warriors, stood as both defenders of the world and living symbols of Lasat pride. These warriors wielded the bo-rifle—an elegant, hybrid weapon and sacred emblem passed through generations. Their martial code, the Boosahn Keeraw, defined how Lasats fought and how they conducted themselves in victory and defeat. When bested in honorable combat by a superior opponent, it was customary for a Lasat warrior to surrender their weapon as a mark of respect. This deep sense of warrior ethics runs alongside a fierce devotion to family, clan, and heritage, and many Lasat stories revolve around sacrifice, redemption, and the duty one owes to fallen comrades.

Lasat spirituality centers on the Ashla, a “spirit of the galaxy” that reflects their perception of the Force as a guiding, luminous presence. Mystics and Revered Masters act as spiritual leaders, carrying Ashla Staffs and performing rites that intertwine prophecy, memory, and the search for a promised home. Some Lasats are able to use bo-rifles as conduits to glimpse past and future events through the Ashla, blurring the line between weapon and spiritual focus. Even those who never train formally as Jedi or mystics often speak of destiny, balance, and paths laid out by the Ashla.

The fall of Lasan under the Empire carved a deep wound into the Species’ collective psyche. Survivors were scattered, enslaved, or driven into hiding, and many struggled with guilt, rage, and grief over the loss of their homeworld and comrades. Figures like Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios—once a Captain of the Lasan High Honor Guard and later a key member of the early rebellion on Lothal—embody this mixture of trauma and stubborn resilience. For these survivors, every act of resistance against tyranny becomes both a personal vendetta and a way to honor the dead of Lasan.

In the years that followed, a handful of Lasats rediscovered Lira San through ancient star paths and Force-guided navigation, reuniting scattered survivors with their ancestral home. Lira San now serves as a sanctuary and symbol of renewal for their people. Even so, in the wider galaxy, Lasats remain rare and often mistaken for “hairless Wookiees” by those who have never learned the difference. Adventuring Lasats are almost always shaped by the memory of loss and the weight of expectation—they fight with ferocity, protect their allies fiercely, and grapple with the ever-present pull between vengeance, honor, and the quiet, stubborn hope for a future where their Species can thrive again.

Home Planet: Lira San (origin), Lasan (colony)
Physical Description: Lasats are large, powerfully muscled humanoids, easily towering over most Humans. Their digitigrade legs give them a distinctive stance and gait, enhancing their speed, jumping power, and agility while also allowing surprisingly quiet movement for their size. Large finger pads and prehensile toes assist with climbing and gripping narrow surfaces. Their faces are framed by fur, often with prominent jawlines, muzzle-like features, and expressive brows. No two Lasats share the same fur pattern, and striping can shift suddenly as they age. A height of two meters is considered below average for their Species, and many Lasats possess enough physical strength to pry open powered-down blast doors or overpower multiple opponents in close combat. Their fur colors and patterns vary, with purple striping particularly prized for its aesthetic appeal. Facial hair is treated as an important status symbol, often groomed to reflect personal honor, rank, or lineage. While normal to them, Lasats have a strong, musky odor that some other Species find nearly unbearable.

    Average Height: 2.1 meters
    Average Weight: 110 kilograms
    Age of Adulthood: 18 years

Personality & Customs: Lasats tend to be fierce, proud, and intensely loyal, shaped by a warrior culture that venerates courage, combat skill, and devotion to one’s people. Members of the Lasan High Honor Guard, in particular, exemplify the ideal Lasat: highly trained, highly intelligent, and unwavering in their duty to protect their home and kin. The warrior way, called Boosahn Keeraw, blends martial discipline with a strong ethical code—honor in battle, respect for worthy opponents, and the ritual of surrendering one’s weapon when genuinely bested. Beyond their martial traditions, Lasats are communal and emotionally deep, bonding strongly with family and comrades. They value straightforwardness and find deliberate deception distasteful, preferring blunt honesty even when it is uncomfortable. Spiritually, many Lasats follow the Ashla, a vision of the Force as a guiding, luminous presence that shapes destinies and connections. Revered Masters and mystics interpret signs, wield Ashla Staffs, and help their people navigate both physical journeys and spiritual trials. The destruction of Lasan and the near-genocide carried out by the Empire left lasting scars on the Species. Survivors often carry grief, guilt, or simmering anger beneath a rough, often sarcastic exterior. Some throw themselves into rebellion or mercenary work, channeling pain into action; others seek quieter paths as scouts, guardians, or tribal mystics. Regardless of role, Lasats who travel the galaxy tend to be formidable allies—strong in body, stubborn in spirit, and driven by a powerful need to ensure that what happened to Lasan is never repeated.
