SWURPG (Star Wars Universe Roleplaying Game) is a modern tabletop RPG system that reimagines the galaxy far, far away by blending the depth and versatility of Star Wars Saga Edition with the sleek, story-friendly mechanics of D&D 5E. It is built from the ground up for cinematic Star Wars action, fast tactical combat, and character-driven campaigns that feel like your favorite movies and series.
Instead of forcing you into outdated rules or generic fantasy systems, SWURPG gives you a focused Star Wars engine. You get clear classes and subclasses, streamlined conditions, intuitive difficulty scaling, and balanced Force mechanics that let Jedi, Soldiers, Scoundrels, Tech Specialists, Force Adepts, and Leaders all shine at the same table. The goal is simple: less rules-wrangling, more Star Wars storytelling.
It’s cinematic, crunchy, accessible, and customizable — made for players who want to:
If you've ever wanted to tell your own Star Wars story with rules that get out of the way but still reward smart play, SWURPG gives you the tools, the structure, and the flexibility to make it legendary. You bring the heroes, villains, eras, and hard choices — the system handles the rest.

It’s been decades since fans have had a truly fresh, balanced, and cinematic Star Wars RPG experience. From West End Games (1987–1999) to Wizards of the Coast (2000–2010), and Fantasy Flight Games (2012–2020), each edition brought something valuable to the table, but none struck the perfect balance between tactical depth, modern design, and easy onboarding for new groups.
SWURPG (Star Wars Universe Roleplaying Game) is built to fix that. It keeps the heroic, class-driven foundation of Star Wars Saga Edition, then layers on clearer math, simplified conditions, advantage and disadvantage, and streamlined Force and equipment rules inspired by D&D 5E. The result is a hybrid system that feels like Star Wars from level 1 to level 20, without collapsing under its own complexity.
The game is suitable for any era of the Star Wars timeline — from the ancient past to the rise of new orders — but we especially recommend running campaigns in the High Republic (roughly 500–100 BBY) or the Imperial era (19 BBY–5 ABY). These periods offer rich conflict, clear factions, and plenty of room for original heroes to matter. When you build characters, backstories, and adventures in SWURPG, you’re encouraged to anchor them to a specific era so that the politics, technology, and threats all make sense in-universe.
SWURPG is more than a single rulebook — it’s a growing ecosystem of tools, reference pages, and examples created to make running a Star Wars campaign as smooth as possible. Everything lives on this site and is organized so you can quickly jump to what you need at the table, no matter which era you choose to explore.
You can browse the rules like a traditional system reference document, or use them alongside the character builder and printable sheets to prep faster and keep the focus on story at the table.
Whether you’re a Jedi dodging Order 66, a bounty hunter tracking spice runners on Nar Shaddaa, a rebel cell sabotaging an Imperial shipyard, or a rogue droid rewriting its own destiny — SWURPG gives you the tools to tell your story. Choose a species, pick a class, agree on an era, and build backstories and adventures that fit naturally into that slice of the timeline.
When you’re ready, start with the Character Creation rules, pick a Species and Class, decide whether you’re playing in the High Republic, the Imperial era, or another period, and bring your corner of the galaxy to life at the table.
