Traits
Within 10 ft of the ysalamir the Force cannot be reached. No creature — the ysalamir included — can spend Force Points, activate or maintain a Force power, use Deflect, or benefit from Force-based senses or saving-throw effects inside this radius, and any ongoing Force effect is suppressed while a creature remains within it. The nullification cannot be dispelled and persists even while the ysalamir sleeps. The bubbles of several ysalamiri overlap and merge: a nutrient frame carrying a cluster extends the void across a wide area (roughly +10 ft of radius per additional ysalamir, at the GM’s discretion).
The ysalamir has no Force presence of its own and cannot be affected by any Force power from any distance — it cannot be pushed, gripped, sensed, or harmed through the Force, even by a user standing outside its bubble.
The ysalamir clings to the branches of olbio trees with clawed limbs and almost never moves on its own. It is captured and carried, not fought; removed from its branch it must be kept alive on a nutrient frame or it slowly dies — and its bubble dies with it.

Lore
Ysalamiri are slow, sessile reptiles native to the forest world of Myrkr, where they spend their long lives clinging to the branches of the towering olbio trees and feeding through their claws. Evolution handed them one extraordinary defense: each ysalamir pushes the Force away from itself, wrapping itself in a bubble of Force-empty space that a hunting predator’s powers simply cannot cross. On Myrkr that predator is the vornskr, a Force-tracking hound the ysalamiri grew up alongside — the lizards’ void is the one place a vornskr’s senses go dark. Off-world, the same quirk makes them priceless. In the years after the Empire fell, Grand Admiral Thrawn famously mounted ysalamiri on nutrient frames to blanket himself and his command room in a Force-dead zone — armor no Jedi could reach through, and a leash for the unstable clone Joruus C’baoth. A single ysalamir shields a small room; a cluster can smother a Force-user’s every advantage across a whole compound.
In Play
The ysalamir is not a monster to fight — it is a problem, a tool, or a trap. Put one in a scene and every Force power inside its bubble simply stops: the party’s Jedi loses her Deflect and her powers, but so does the villain. Use it to drag a lightsaber duel down into an honest brawl, to make a captured Force-user helpless, or to explain why a compound full of dark-siders never sensed the strike team coming. The bubble is symmetric and it stacks — a wall of caged ysalamiri turns a whole building into a Force-null zone, and the only way to break it is to reach the frames and cut them loose.
Adventure Hooks
- The Force-Blind Room — A fixer pays a small fortune for a live ysalamir on its nutrient frame and asks no questions — and neither should the party, until they learn who wants a room the Force can’t see into, and why.
- Silence on Myrkr — The party’s Jedi goes dark the moment they reach an old research station in the deep forest. The valley reads Force-empty for kilometers, someone has been breeding the lizards by the thousand, and whatever they were guarding against is still out there.
- Untouchable — A warlord holds court from inside a bubble of caged ysalamiri — every Force power the heroes throw dies at the threshold. The fight is not with him; it is with the frames, and the guards who keep the party from reaching them.
