The Next Generation of Star Wars Tabletop Adventure

    Codru-Ji

The Codru-Ji have long been isolated from the rest of the galaxy. Highly xenophobic, they are reluctant to grant outsiders meaningful access to their society—not out of fear, but out of concern that foreign ideas will ‘rub off’ and erode their own traditions and values. Certain aspects of Codru-Ji culture are considered barbaric by galactic standards, such as ritual kidnappings of the children of political rivals. These ‘coup abductions’ almost always end with the ransom paid and the child safely returned, but the practice is deeply unsettling to most offworlders. All Codru-Ji possess six limbs: four arms and two legs. Their unusual two-stage life cycle means that juvenile Codru-Ji, called Wyrwulves, appear as small, furred, six-legged canines rather than humanoids. Wyrwulves grow in this quadrupedal form until puberty, when they spin a rubbery blue cocoon and emerge weeks later as four-armed, bipedal adults. Many ruins and ornate stone castles dot their mountainous homeworld of Munto Codru—remnants of an unknown extinct civilization that some Codru-Ji consider haunted. Because their world has few major exports, the Codru-Ji have remained largely removed from galactic affairs, focusing instead on their own complex internal politics. Leading families engage in intricate power struggles where honor, clan reputation, and the safety of one’s children are constantly at stake. Outsiders who do earn their trust, however, find that Codru-Ji bonds are fierce and enduring.

Home Planet: Munto Codru (Outer Rim)
Physical Description: Adult Codru-Ji are four-armed, two-legged humanoids with elongated faces and pointed ears. Their hair and eye colors tend toward dark, earthy browns, and their skin is resilient enough to handle the rigors of their mountainous world. Juvenile Codru-Ji, known as Wyrwulves, resemble small, six-legged canines covered in thick fur and are often mistaken for pets by uninformed offworlders. Wyrwulves lick friends in greeting, communicate in growls and barks, and only gain speech and a humanoid form after emerging from a pupation cocoon at puberty.

    Average Height: 1.6 meters
    Average Weight: 60–65 kilograms
Age of Adulthood: 13 standard years

Personality & Customs: As a species, Codru-Ji are wary and uncomfortable around outsiders, constantly searching for hidden motives even in casual interactions. Family and clan ties are everything: they will do nearly anything to protect their loved ones, especially their children, and view threats against family as the gravest possible insult. Ritualized kidnappings—coup abductions—are a core part of their internal politics, used to pressure rivals through ransom and negotiation rather than outright slaughter. Codru-Ji who befriend members of other species often come to regard them as honorary family and can be just as protective of them. Their culture prizes loyalty, subtle political maneuvering, and a fierce sense of clan honor, and many would rather remain isolated than risk their traditions being diluted by outside influence.
