Draethos

Draethos are long-lived, deeply traditional humanoids from a secretive world in the Outer Rim. On their homeworld, they are fierce warriors who spend centuries honing martial skill, hunting deadly predators, and waging clan conflicts under the guidance of aloof aristocrats more interested in ancient rivalries than galactic politics. Offworld Draethos, by contrast, are usually exiles who rejected the warrior path and embraced quiet scholarship, becoming patient archivists, historians, and philosophers who are fascinated by the wider galaxy yet often overwhelmed by how quickly it changes. Because Draethos culture evolves at a glacial pace, attitudes forged long before the Old Republic remain central even thousands of years later. This makes many exiled Draethos brilliant but socially awkward: they prefer learning and observation to debate, fearing they might overlook details or fail to explain their insights adequately. Only with age do they typically grow comfortable speaking at length and sharing the full breadth of what they know.

Physical Description: Draethos are lean but powerfully muscled humanoids covered in leathery, scaly skin that ranges from violet and mauve to blue or gray. Their most striking feature is a lipless mouth framed by massive external teeth that create the illusion of a perpetual overbite. Long limbs end in four-fingered, clawlike hands, giving them a skeletal, predatory appearance softened only by their calm, deliberate movements. Their large craniums house complex brains, and their unusual physiology supports natural telepathic potential in many individuals.
