The Next Generation of Star Wars Tabletop Adventure

    Krevaaki

The Krevaaki are a peaceful, ancient, and spiritually driven Species native to the water-covered Outer Rim world of Krevas. Though among the oldest known spacefaring civilizations, they rarely appear in significant numbers away from their homeworld, even during the Old Republic era when their exploratory traditions were strongest. Most Krevaaki travel alone or in very small groups, seeking wisdom, knowledge, and meditative experiences beyond the borders of their own world. Their contemplative nature, paired with minimal interest in fame, power, or material gain, has shaped their reputation as itinerant philosophers and spiritual wanderers.

Centuries of xenophobia from other Species caused the Krevaaki to adopt heavy robes that hide their bodies, revealing only their two dominant tentacles — often mistaken for humanoid arms. Beneath their garments, however, Krevaaki possess eight segmented tentacles, each capable of developing its own specializations as they age. Young Krevaaki use all eight tentacles interchangeably, but adults stand upright on six of them, using the remaining two as hands. Some tentacles eventually develop protrusions resembling opposable thumbs, while others become thicker and more suited to bearing weight. Their red, chitinous exoskeletons protect their bodies, while their glassy black eyes and shifting facial plates make their expressions difficult for non-Krevaaki to read.

Krevaaki culture is quiet, introspective, and deeply spiritual. They rarely involve themselves in the affairs of other Species and avoid conflict whenever possible, choosing meditation, philosophy, and exploration as the primary paths toward understanding themselves and the galaxy. Negative emotions are processed through quiet contemplation, and Force-sensitive Krevaaki often develop unusually deep insights into the Force. Their society is not built on materialism or conquest but on personal enlightenment, communal harmony, and a near-religious sense of patience.

Despite their gentle nature, Krevaaki adventurers sometimes wander far from Krevas, especially Scholars, Scouts, Nobles, and Force adepts seeking meaning beyond their quiet ocean world. Though rare, Krevaaki have played key roles in historic galactic eras — most famously the Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas, teacher of Exar Kun, whose lineage included other influential Krevaaki philosophers and Force users. In these individuals, the meditative and contemplative spirit of the Species becomes a guiding force, often shaping events far beyond what one might expect from such an unassuming people.

Krevaaki communities consist of floating structures lashed together above shallow waters and muddy swamps. They use few droids or devices, preferring tools that align with their environment rather than disrupt it. Their language, Dromnyr, is a complex system of hums and resonant underwater acoustics that carries through both water and humid air. Smells also play a subtle role in communication, as Krevaaki emit distinct musks when excited or emotionally stirred. Though their culture values peace, they are not naive — isolation and long history have taught them caution, humility, and quiet resilience in the face of chaos.

    Home Planet: Krevas
Physical Description: Krevaaki are tall crustacean-descended beings averaging around two meters in height. Their bodies are protected by a red exoskeleton, with faces composed of shifting chitinous plates that make emotional expressions difficult for outsiders to interpret. They possess glassy black eyes, six sensory feelers surrounding their mouth, and eight segmented tentacles that serve as their limbs. As they age, these tentacles specialize: adults stand on six and manipulate objects with two, some of which develop thumb-like protrusions for fine control. Tentacles used primarily for locomotion become more powerful but lose dexterity, while manipulator tentacles retain agility. Krevaaki commonly conceal most of their tentacles beneath robes, revealing only their two dominant manipulators to avoid unsettling other Species.

Personality & Customs: Krevaaki are contemplative, peaceful, and spiritually driven, preferring meditation and introspection over confrontation. Their culture values wisdom, patience, and emotional balance, avoiding materialism and ambition. Most Krevaaki attempt to resolve disputes diplomatically and seek insight rather than victory. Their spiritual practices involve mental discipline, breath-stillness meditation, and attunement to the deeper rhythms of life and the Force. On their homeworld, they build quiet floating villages above swamps and oceans, living simple but harmonious lives. Their non-expressive faces and calm monotone voices can be unsettling to strangers, but their intentions are nearly always peaceful. Force-sensitive Krevaaki often develop profound insight and rarely fall to the Dark Side, though historical exceptions exist.
