Traits

Pheromonal Allure

Your glands make an argument no words can. You can release pheromones that work on almost anyone, regardless of species, and your skin flushes red and orange while they do. You have Advantage on Persuasion checks.

Unclouded Mind

Falleen are one of the few species known to shrug off a mind trick. You have Advantage on saving throws against being Charmed and against mind-affecting Force powers.

Semi-Aquatic

Somewhere back your ancestors lived in the water, and you kept the lungs for it. You can hold your breath for 30 minutes.

Cold-Blooded

You take your warmth from the world around you, and a cold one slows you down. In extreme cold you have Disadvantage on Endurance checks and on Constitution saving throws.

Lore

Falleen are a reptomammalian species from the jungle world of Falleen in the Mid Rim, known for the pheromones that make them almost impossible to refuse, for skin that changes colour with their mood, and for a court politics so patient it rarely needs to draw a weapon. They are cold-blooded in both senses: their bodies take warmth from the world around them, and their nobles can wait out a rival for a century without once raising their voice.

A Falleen stands between 1.7 and 2.4 meters, built much like a Human but scaled in green or grey-green, with small scales over the whole body, slightly clawed fingers and toes, and ridges along the face and spine that tend to be subtler on females. Their blood is green. They live around 250 years, which shapes everything about how they deal with shorter-lived species: a Falleen who loses an argument at thirty can simply outlive everyone who witnessed it. They are semi-aquatic and can hold their breath far longer than most, which exobiologists read as the mark of an aquatic ancestor.

The pheromones are what the galaxy notices. A Falleen can release them deliberately, and their effect crosses species and gender lines with unsettling ease — a chemical argument nobody consents to hear. It pairs with the other half of the trick: Falleen skin flushes red and orange as the glands work, and their pigment shifts naturally with their emotions, so their ancestors lived with their feelings written on their faces. They mastered that reflex a long time ago. A trained Falleen shows what they intend to show, which in the noble houses is a weapon as real as a blade.

Falleen society is feudal, ordered into noble houses that rule over the lower classes and spend their considerable patience on each other. The upper levels are thick with intrigue, but blood is rarely spilled over it — an assassination would be a confession of failure, and Falleen respect nothing so much as self-control. They shun public displays of emotion, which offworlders read as coldness, arrogance, or both. They joined the Republic roughly four thousand years before the Battle of Yavin, and sided with the Confederacy during the Clone Wars.

Their worst day came at Imperial hands (in Legends). A bioweapons laboratory on Falleen leaked a flesh-eating bacterium, and rather than let it spread — or let anyone learn what was being built there — Darth Vader ordered the lab and the city around it burned from orbit. Two hundred thousand died, King Haxim of House Sizhran among them, along with nearly the whole family of his son. That son was **Prince Xizor**, who went on to run the Black Sun syndicate and spent the rest of his life trying to destroy Vader from the inside of the Empire. In canon the Falleen turn up in the same line of work: **Ziton Moj** led Black Sun under Maul's Shadow Collective in *The Clone Wars*, and a Falleen father and daughter appear in *The Bad Batch*.

As a player character, a Falleen is the one who talks the party through the door. **CHA +1** and **INT +1** suit schemers and negotiators, every Falleen is trained in **Deception**, and **Pheromonal Allure** gives Advantage on Persuasion — a chemical edge, not a learned one. **Unclouded Mind** makes you hard to push back: Falleen are one of the few species known to resist mind tricks, so you have Advantage on saves against being Charmed and against mind-affecting Force powers. **Semi-Aquatic** lungs let you hold your breath for half an hour. The costs are real: **WIS −2** for a people trained out of showing or reading open feeling, and **Cold-Blooded**, which turns any genuinely cold world into a problem you cannot simply endure. Falleen fit crime bosses, diplomats, spies and courtiers, and a Falleen who left the houses behind always has a reason worth asking about.

Physical Description

Falleen are reptomammalian: scaled like reptiles, but with mammalian traits that led exobiologists to conclude they have a mammal somewhere in their ancestry. They stand 1.7 to 2.4 meters, shaped much like Humans, and are covered in small, supple scales that thicken and harden over the spine. Their fingers and toes end in slight claws. Ridges run along the face and down the spine, generally heavier on males and subtler on females, and their blood is green.

Skin runs green to grey-green at rest and flushes toward red and orange when the pheromone glands are working, which makes a Falleen in full persuasive flow visibly obvious to anyone who knows what they are looking at. The colour also drifts with mood on its own — the species evolved wearing its feelings openly — and the deliberate control Falleen learn over that reflex is a matter of training rather than biology.

They are semi-aquatic and hold their breath for long stretches, comfortable in water or air. Being cold-blooded, they take their body heat from their surroundings, so a Falleen in a cold climate slows down, and Falleen who settle on cold worlds live indoors and dress for it. They are long-lived, averaging around 250 years. (Assumption: sources give no standard weight range or age of majority.)

Culture & Personality

Falleen present as composed, precise and unhurried. Discipline is the virtue their culture prizes above all others, and self-control most of all, so they avoid public displays of emotion and find them undignified in others. With a 250-year lifespan behind the habit, patience costs them very little: a Falleen will happily lose the argument in front of them to win the one that matters in a decade.

That reserve reads badly offworld. Species who cannot see the point of the restraint take it for arrogance or cold-heartedness, and the Falleen reputation for manipulation does the rest — everyone has heard about the pheromones, and nobody is quite sure whether they are being worked. Falleen rarely correct the impression. In the noble houses, being slightly feared is useful.

Their politics runs on intrigue rather than violence, and a Falleen raised in it treats conversation as manoeuvre: what is shown, what is withheld, what colour the skin is allowed to give away. Offworld, that skill set turns naturally to negotiation, intelligence work, crime and diplomacy, which are not as different as their practitioners pretend. A Falleen adventurer is often an exile, a younger child with no inheritance, or someone whose house lost a long quiet war.

Famous Falleen Characters

Prince XizorUnderlord of Black Sun

Xizor of House Sizhran ran Black Sun, the largest criminal syndicate in the galaxy, while moving through Imperial high society as a respectable public figure. His family died when Darth Vader burned a city on Falleen from orbit to contain a leaked bioweapon, and he spent the rest of his life trying to displace Vader at the Emperor's side. He is the most famous Falleen in the galaxy and the reason most people have heard of the species at all (Legends).

Ziton MojBlack Sun leader

Ziton Moj was a Vigo of Black Sun and captain of its guard during the Clone Wars. When Savage Opress killed the syndicate's leadership for refusing to join Maul's Shadow Collective, Moj inherited what was left and fought for the Collective on Mandalore. He later tried to force a merger with the Pyke Syndicate by kidnapping Marg Krim's family (The Clone Wars, "Eminence").

SavanXizor's niece

Savan was a Falleen royal and Xizor's niece, who moved to take Black Sun for herself after his death in 3 ABY. She wore artificial flesh to pass as a Human woman and won a seat among the Vigos, the last remnant of the syndicate's central authority, before making her claim to the Underlord's chair (Legends).

King HaximXizor's father

Haxim of House Sizhran was a provincial king on Falleen and the father of three children, grooming his son Xizor as heir. He died with most of his family in the Imperial orbital bombardment that razed the city around Vader's bioweapons laboratory (Legends).

Darth KarridSith Lord of the Old Republic era

Born Kana Terrid, she trained as a Jedi under Master Gnost-Dural before Darth Malgus turned her to the dark side. As Darth Karrid she took a seat on the Dark Council at the head of the Sphere of Technology and commanded the warship Ascendant Spear through a cybernetic interface wired directly into the hull (Legends).

LaanJedi Knight of the High Republic

Laan was a Falleen Jedi Knight who served as security at the wedding of Prince Phan-tu Zenn and Princess Xiri A'lbaran on Eiram in 382 BBY. When bounty hunters attacked the ceremony, Laan was killed by a Lasat hunter's electrified bo-rifle.
