The Next Generation of Star Wars Tabletop Adventure

    Gotal

Gotals are tall, fur-covered humanoids native to Antar 4, a moon defined by extreme and irregular light cycles. To survive such harsh sensory conditions, Gotals evolved a pair of cone-shaped electromagnetic organs atop their heads. These cones allow them to detect minute disturbances in the electromagnetic field: the presence of living beings, the emotional state of creatures nearby, hidden intentions, and even subtle energies flowing through the environment. This rare ability makes them natural negotiators, troubleshooters, diplomats—and, occasionally, uncanny trackers.

Their empathic abilities come with complications. Young Gotals, overwhelmed by constant emotional noise, often struggle to understand where their own feelings end and others' begin. Through discipline and maturity they learn restraint, developing the calm, composed demeanor most Gotals are known for. They rarely display emotion verbally; instead, their cones transmit feelings directly to other Gotals, a form of communication outsiders cannot mimic. This combination of privacy and sensitivity has led many species to view Gotals as serene, detached, or unreadable—even though their inner emotional lives run deep.

Many Gotals travel the galaxy as diplomats, advisors, scholars, merchants, or Jedi. Others turn their perceptive gifts toward more dangerous pursuits: bounty hunting, infiltration, or intelligence work. While their senses offer immense advantages, they also suffer around droids and complex machinery—Gotal cones react painfully to artificial electromagnetic fields, making urban environments and starships uncomfortable places to linger.

Home Planet: Antar 4 (moon of Antar, Prindaar System)
Physical Description: Gotals stand roughly 1.8 meters tall and are covered in thick, wiry fur prone to shedding. Their flat, elongated faces are framed by short fur, and their most distinct features are the two conical organs rising from the forehead. These cones constantly scan their surroundings, detecting electromagnetic shifts and emotional signatures. Their eyes are dark and focused, and their bodies are lean but resilient, adapted to the fluctuating conditions of Antar 4's severe light-and-shadow cycles.

    Average Height: 1.8 meters
    Average Weight: 70 kilograms
Age of Adulthood: 13 standard years

Personality & Customs: Gotals are polite, disciplined, and remarkably sensitive to emotional nuance. They value privacy and rarely reveal their own emotions through speech, preferring neutral language that avoids influencing or overwhelming those around them. While they speak Basic fluently, their version of the language is flat and devoid of emotional inflection, which some species misinterpret as coldness. Emotion plays a central role in Gotal society. Young Gotals undergo long periods of emotional confusion before mastering the self-control expected of adults. Once mature, they maintain strict internal boundaries and exhibit deep empathy toward others without intruding on their autonomy. Their ability to sense the emotional states of beings around them makes them excellent diplomats—but also dangerous hunters when pushed. Gotals avoid droids due to the uncomfortable electromagnetic buzz they emit. Gotal adventurers often serve as Nobles, Scouts eager to escape sensory overload, or Jedi whose Force abilities mesh naturally with their heightened perception.

Languages: Gotal; Basic (spoken without emotional inflection).
