The Next Generation of Star Wars Tabletop Adventure

    Houk

Houk are hulking, thick-skinned humanoids native to the harsh desert world of Lijuter. Their immense strength, massive forearms, and bone-ridged skulls give them a fearsome presence that matches their reputation for aggression, bullying, and treachery. Though often compared to Wookiees in raw physical power, Houk lack the honor and reliability their ursine counterparts are known for.

Over millennia, the Houk spread across the galaxy, establishing small colonies and integrating—sometimes violently—into local criminal ecosystems. Wars with the Weequay, brawls in cantinas, and brutal gladiatorial histories all reinforce their reputation as dangerous, short-tempered beings. During the Imperial era, the Empire captured and experimented on Houk colonists in an attempt to create obedient shock troops, but the species proved too defiant and unpredictable to tame.

Despite their brutal culture, Houk are not mindless brutes. A rare few work hard to rise above their society's corruption, becoming disciplined soldiers, scouts, or mercenaries. And while most Houk enjoy intimidation and dominance, some find unexpected purpose in rebellion, resistance, or loyalty to small adventuring crews who prove themselves worthy of trust.

Home Planet: Lijuter (Reibrin System, Outer Rim)
Physical Description: Houk are massive humanoids standing around 2.2 meters tall with thick, dark blue or violet skin and broad, muscular frames. Their hairless heads are marked by heavy bony ridges, deep-set yellow eyes, flabby jowls, and no visible ears or nose. Their gigantic forearms end in four-fingered hands designed for crushing strength. Their imposing silhouette and thunderous gait make subtlety nearly impossible for them.

    Average Height: 2.2 meters
    Average Weight: 120 kilograms
Age of Adulthood: 16 standard years

Personality & Customs: Houk are humorless, volatile, and quick to anger. They lean heavily on intimidation, deception, and opportunism, traits that permeate their society from politics to street fights. Their culture is steeped in violence, corruption, and cutthroat competition—qualities that Houk offworlders often leverage for work as enforcers, pirates, bodyguards, or gladiators. While most Houk embrace their fearsome reputation, a minority work diligently to navigate the galaxy with discipline and restraint. These individuals often find themselves in mixed-species groups where their raw physicality is valuable but must be balanced against their explosive temper. Houk value power, survival, and cunning above all else, and though loyalty is rare, when given it is fierce and enduring.
