More Than the Hutts' Muscle — The Nikto Come to SWURPG

The Nikto — Star Wars' reptilian Hutt enforcers from Kintan, from Jabba's palace guards to the Jedi General Ima-Gun Di — are a new playable species in SWURPG. Build one free in the Character Builder.

You know the muscle

You have seen a Nikto, even if you never caught the name. The horned, leathery brutes flanking Jabba's throne and crewing his sail barge? Nikto. For some twenty-five thousand years the galaxy has known them as exactly one thing — the Hutts' hired steel, the muscle that turns a crime lord into someone you cannot simply walk up to.

That reputation is real. It is also the shallow end of the species.

Meet the Nikto, the newest playable species in SWURPG.

Five breeds, one hard world

There is no single Nikto look, because there is no single Nikto. Long ago the radiation of a dying star fractured the species into five subspecies on the world of Kintan — red desert-dwellers and green foresters crowned with rings of horns, finned mountain folk, pale island sailors, and the yellow-orange southerners. What they share is a scaled, leathery hide, a build heavy with muscle, and a toughness bred into them by a world that tried to kill them.

The Hutts found Kintan a very long time ago and never let go, binding the Nikto to them as enforcers and shock troops before the Old Republic was even born. To this day, to find a Nikto in your doorway is to learn whose doorway it is.

The build — a durable warrior

In SWURPG, a Nikto plays as a born survivor built to outlast the fight:

  • STR +2 / INT −1 / CHA −1, trained in Endurance.
  • Scaled Hide — +1 AC. The thick reptilian hide of a people a hostile world could not finish off.
  • Radiation-Forged — Advantage on saves against poison, radiation, and disease, the legacy of the hard sun that split them into five breeds.
  • The Hutts' Reputation — Advantage on Intimidation. Twenty-five thousand years of being the scariest thing in the room is a hard habit to unlearn.

It is a front-liner's kit — the bodyguard, the bounty hunter, the gladiator, the wasteland survivor who is simply harder to put down than whatever is hunting them. Bolt on a class and pick your kind of dangerous.

More than a henchman

Here is the part the Hutts would rather you forget. Look back at that lineup: a soldier, a bounty hunter, a gladiator with a vibro-axe, a robed mystic, a dignified elder who trades in something other than violence — and a green Nikto in Jedi robes with a lit blade. That last one is no fantasy. In the Clone Wars, the Nikto Jedi General Ima-Gun Di died holding the line on Ryloth, proof that a Nikto can answer a far higher calling than the next contract.

And the most feared Nikto of all never served a Hutt at all. The Morgukai were an ancient order of Nikto warriors who fought with cortosis blades that could short out a lightsaber — Jedi-killers who bowed to neither the Order nor the Sith. A Nikto in a doorway has never been quite as simple as the cartel wants you to believe.

You can play any of them. You do not have to take a single Hutt credit.
