You know the mask
You've almost certainly seen a Pyke — you just saw the mask. That angular brass face and the twin breath-tubes are one of the underworld's clearest warnings: the calling card of the Pyke Syndicate, the cartel that's run the galaxy's spice from the back rooms of The Clone Wars to the streets of The Book of Boba Fett. Behind the mask is a whole species — and as of today you can play one.
Meet the Pyke, the newest playable species in SWURPG.
Spice lords of Oba Diah
Pykes are tall, slim, and unhurried — gaunt humanoids from the remote world of Oba Diah, with elongated skulls, narrow magenta or blue eyes, and a small, still face that unsettles most who see it (half the reason they go masked). Their homeworld sits at the heart of the spice trade: the raw spice of Kessel hauled in, refined, and shipped back out to every world with a vice to feed.
The cartel is patient, cold, and ruthlessly commercial — it deals before it fights and remembers every debt. In the Clone Wars the Pykes threw in with Maul's Shadow Collective to seize Mandalore; under the Empire they simply kept selling. You met their bosses on screen — Lom Pyke, Marg Krim, the Mos Espa mayor Mok Shaiz — and the deal that soured when the Bad Batch made off with their cargo.

The build — a cold operator
In SWURPG, a Pyke plays as a calculating operator, not a brawler — a sharp, watchful mind over a frail, off-putting frame:
- INT +1 / WIS +1 / CON −1 / CHA −1, trained in Deception.
- Cold Read — Advantage on Insight. A Pyke reads the lie and the angle before you've finished your sentence.
- Marked by the Syndicate — the cartel's name cuts both ways: Advantage on Intimidation, but Disadvantage on Persuasion with law-abiding authorities and anyone the Syndicate has wronged.
It's a fixer's kit — the schemer who already knows how the conversation ends. Bolt on a class and you've got a spymaster, a smuggler, a crime-lord, or the quietly terrifying negotiator nobody at the table wants to bluff.
The face behind the mask
Here's the part the cartel would rather you forget: a Pyke isn't a Syndicate membership card. Look back at that lineup — a masked dealer, a soldier, a spymaster with a datapad, a knife in the dark, even a Pyke who set down the spice ledger and picked up a lightsaber. Every one of them is a Pyke. You don't have to be a card-carrying spice lord to play one; you just have to wear the face the galaxy has learned to read.
