Effect

As an Action, you slow your body to a deathlike stillness. You appear dead to casual inspection — a creature must beat your Force DC on a Treat Injury or Knowledge: Sciences check to tell that you live — you need no air, food, or water, and you are only faintly aware of your surroundings. If you are dying (0 HP), you automatically become stable and make no death saving throws while the trance lasts. You may set a trigger to wake — a span of time, a spoken word, or a touch — and you can end the trance yourself on your turn. Taking any damage ends it immediately.

At the Table

Buried under the rubble of a collapsed temple with the air running out, a Padawan drops into the hibernation trance. Her heart slows to a whisper; the rescue crew that digs her out a day later reads her as a corpse — until she opens her eyes.

In the Lore

The Jedi hibernation trance is old teaching: a student learns to slow heart and breath to the edge of death, surviving vacuum, poison, or burial that would kill an ordinary being and waking untouched days later. It doubles as a mask — to any casual eye the tranced Jedi is simply dead. Across every era of the lore it has saved lives, from stranded Knights to captives feigning death to slip a cell.
