Czerialan and Mosyk: Two Species You Asked For

· 5 min read

Two player-requested species join SWURPG: the Czerialans of Czerialus and the reptilian Mosyk. Their stats, their canon, and where we had to make a call.

You asked, so we built them

Two species came in through requests, and both are live now. They also made for the most interesting design problem we have had in a while, because between them they have roughly six sentences of canon to work from. One is a background face in Solo with a single named member. The other is so new that nobody has ever said where it comes from.

So this post does two things: it tells you what the galaxy actually records about each, and it shows you where we had to make a call — because a species page that quietly invents its way past the gaps is worse than one that admits them.

Czerialan: the people who stay home

Here is everything the galaxy records about the Czerialans. They are near-Human, from Czerialus out in the Expansion Region. Their skulls rise into a tall pale dome with a band of discoloration around the crown. Their skin is light tan, speckled in darker orange and brown. Their hair is white or very pale orange from birth, and it grows in a single patch on the very top of the head. Family matters to them. They are almost never found anywhere but Czerialus. Under the Empire, their world was occupied.

That is the lot. The one Czerialan with a name is Jannitha Xoczuko, a droid programmer at the Corellian Engineering Corporation who lived on Corellia, grew unhappy with what the military side of the business was asking of her, and planned to take her family home — not knowing what was waiting for them there. The species itself first appeared as background faces in Solo.

Two traits, not four. There was enough in the sources to support exactly this much, and padding the list with invented abilities would have been the easy, dishonest option. Build a Czerialan and play the one who left.

Mosyk: green scales and a bony crown

The Mosyk are newer still. They are reptilian, green-scaled, with a bone-like shelf across the back of the skull — the same broad family of cranial crest the Vurk carry — and three thick fingers on each hand.

Almost everything else known about them comes from one person: Eeko-Dio Daki, a Jedi Master who survived Order 66 and went into hiding with his Twi'lek Padawan, Devon Izara. By 17 BBY the two of them were living quietly on the Mid Rim world of Janix, his blue lightsaber put away and a makeshift cane in its place, the locals knowing him only as "Uncle Daki". Izara was arrested trying to steal food for him. He is described as traditional, long-lived, and formidable when a fight finally reaches him. He debuted in Maul — Shadow Lord, where the crew nicknamed him the "Dino Jedi".

That last one is the character of the species in a single line: a Mosyk does not reach for a weapon first, and pays for it at the top of every fight. In exchange, they are genuinely hard to put down. Build a Mosyk and be the last one standing.

Where we had to make a call

Three gaps are worth naming, because you will hit them the moment you build a character.

The Mosyk homeworld has never been named. Not in the series, not in the databank, nowhere. Daki was hiding on Janix, but nothing says he was born there. We could have invented a planet. We did not, and the species page says the world is unknown — which means a GM can put the Mosyk homeworld wherever the campaign needs it and be no less correct than anyone else.

Nobody knows why Czerialans stay home. The sources are unusually direct about this: whether it is isolationism or something else "has yet to be revealed". So Homeworld-Bound models the effect — they do not know the wider galaxy — without asserting a cause. Poverty, Imperial restriction, contentment, or a cultural rule nobody offworld has heard of: take your pick.

Slow to Violence is our reading. No source calls the Mosyk pacifists. What exists is one telling moment: Daki, hunted by an Empire that wanted every Jedi dead, still insisting that the strangers around them could be relied on to help. We built a peaceable species out of that, and we are flagging it because it is an interpretation rather than a fact. If your Mosyk draws first, nothing in canon contradicts you.

The same goes for the traits generally. They are our readings of the published biology and culture, not established game rules, and both species pages say so in as many words.

Build one

Both are in the Character Builder now, with full stat blocks, traits and name generators — Czerialan and Mosyk. Czerialus is pinned on the galaxy map out in the Expansion Region; the Mosyk homeworld is not, for the reason above.

If there is a species you want in the game, the request page is how these two got here.
