Traits
Projected Feeling
Zeltron pheromones and the limited telepathy behind them do not only attract - they push. Once per Short Rest, as an Action, you may force an emotion onto a creature within 30 feet. It must succeed on a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw or become Charmed or Frightened (your choice) until the end of its next turn.
Empathic Bleed
What you project, you also receive, and there is no switch for it. You always know the dominant emotion of any creature within 10 feet of you, whether you want to or not. While a creature within 10 feet of you is Frightened, you must succeed on a DC 12 Wisdom saving throw at the start of your turn or become Frightened yourself.
Lore
Zeltrons are a near-Human species from the pleasure world of Zeltros, known for the potent pheromones they cannot switch off, a limited telepathy that pushes feelings into other minds, and a culture that treats happiness as a civic obligation. They sit in the small group of near-Human lines divergent enough to be counted a separate species of the Human genus rather than a variant population of baseline humanity. Created for Marvel's Star Wars comics in 1983, the species spent three decades as Legends material before entering current canon in 2015, when John Jackson Miller posted production notes for his 2014 novel A New Dawn revealing that the red-skinned Jedi youngling who spars with Caleb Dume on Coruscant is a Zeltron. Their homeworld is firmly canon; most of the body-lore that follows is Legends, and it is flagged below where the two continuities carry different weight.
Outwardly a Zeltron reads as Human with the color turned up. Skin runs from light pink through to deep crimson, and hair most commonly comes in red or blue, though Legends reference works also record brown, black, white, silver and pink. The real divergence is chemical. Every Zeltron secretes potent pheromones, a trait Legends sources compare directly to the Falleen, and those pheromones raise how attractive and how likable others find them without any effort or intent on the Zeltron's part. The effect is useless on their own kind: Zeltrons are acclimated to each other and read nothing off each other's chemistry, which means a Zeltron's charm is a tool that works on everyone in the room except the people who grew up next door. Layered on top is a limited telepathic faculty that runs in both directions. A Zeltron can project an emotion onto someone nearby, and can read or outright feel what that person is already carrying. Canon material frames the receiving half as involuntary amplification rather than a chosen sense - Zeltrons experience heightened versions of the feelings around them, strongest from people they care about.
Zeltros sits in the Inner Rim at grid square O-10. In canon the world was first mentioned on the galaxy map packaged with the 2016 Force Awakens Beginner Game, appeared in Doctor Aphra 13 in October 2017 as a beach world where Aphra's holiday ends in a shooting, and was formally identified as the Zeltros system in the Star Systems of the Galaxy appendix published alongside the Star Wars Galaxy Map on StarWars.com in June 2025. Legends placed the planet in the Zel system with four siblings - Zeloa, Zeldiis, Zelvahn and Zellone - and had it join the Galactic Republic by 4000 BBY under an elective monarchy that Legends sources compare outright to Naboo's. Zeltron monarchs were chosen on merit in combat, art, science and love, which produced rulers like King Arno, remembered during the Galactic Civil War for poetry, acrobatics and the Zeltron lute, and his wife Leonie, remembered for art collecting, fashion, the lute and the kloo horn. The tourist trade was built on the parties. Legends describes them as near-continuous, and when one was not already running, Zeltrons were busy finding a reason to start one.
The emotional economy of Zeltros has a harder edge than the travel-brochure reputation suggests. Because every Zeltron feels what the room feels, positive states - happiness, love, pleasure - became the things the culture organizes itself around, while anger, fear and depression are shunned rather than worked through. The lesson lands early: canon material has young Zeltrons taught, on their very first day of grade school, that they must not let their emotions lead them around. The Saga Edition write-up is blunter about the failure mode, noting that a Zeltron is not ruled by the feelings of others but can become inundated with negative sentiment after prolonged exposure to it. The outcasts prove the rule. Vianna D'Pow, an albino, grew up shunned by her peers on Zeltros, turned to anger and violence, and made a career as a thief and bounty hunter. Legends also credits the planet's own atmosphere with defensive work no deflector could manage: almost every invasion of Zeltros came apart once the attackers reached the surface and the pheromones and the celebration got to them, the exception being a chain of three invasions shortly after the Battle of Endor. Sources conflict on the conventional defenses - the Legends Zeltros article credits the world with a substantial defense force that simply lacked planetary shielding, while species-level write-ups describe Zeltrons as maintaining no real military - but both agree Zeltrons keep themselves physically fit.
Named Zeltrons spread across eras and well past the hedonist stereotype. Antos Wyrick was abducted as a young man by Iskalloni slavers and resurfaced in the Mandalorian Wars as Doctor Demagol, a name contracted from the Mando'a for the flesh carver, torturing and experimenting on Jedi captives at Flashpoint Stellar Research Station in 3964 BBY in an effort to locate the source of their power; the Jedi called Squint carried the scars for the rest of his life. In 241 BBY the Padawan Klias Teradine, training on Alaris Prime under the Azumel Master Cibaba and treating his master's lectures on humility as a running joke, was corrupted by a vitalicron on Mount Bikja and killed by his fellow Padawan Tylera Yorrick, a death the Order buried under a story about expulsion. Four Zeltron youths - Bahb, Jahn, Marruc and Rahuhl - volunteered as attaches to Leia Organa in 4 ABY, an assignment Admiral Ackbar judged diplomatically necessary despite Leia's open dislike of the species, and then fought hard enough at Kabray and through the Battle of Zeltros to win over both her and Han. Two centuries later Deliah Blue rebuilt a Helot-class transport into the Mynock and ran it as chief mechanic under Cade Skywalker, which made her a target: Darth Maladi had her kidnapped and Yuuzhan Vong coral grafted onto her back purely as leverage against him. In canon, Lorica Demaris joined the Resistance against the First Order for a reason no recruiter would have predicted - the galaxy had credited her with destroying an illegal weapons cache she had nothing to do with, and she enlisted to become the person that story described.
At the table a Zeltron is a face built on a liability. Medium, speed 30, CHA +2 and DEX +1 against WIS -2, with proficiency in Persuasion: quick, impossible to ignore, and unreliable at reading a situation as anything other than how it feels. Projected Feeling is the species' pheromone-and-telepathy package turned into a lever - once per Short Rest, as an Action, choose a creature within 30 feet and push an emotion into it; on a failed DC 12 Wisdom save it is Charmed or Frightened, your choice, until the end of its next turn. Empathic Bleed is the bill. You always know the dominant emotion of any creature within 10 feet whether you want to or not, which makes a Zeltron an excellent read on a lying client and a dreadful sabacc player, and while a creature inside that radius is Frightened you must make a DC 12 Wisdom save at the start of your turn or catch the fear yourself. Run one as the party's negotiator and you will walk the group past checkpoints nobody else could talk through. Stand beside a panicking ally when the shooting starts and the species' defining gift becomes the reason you are both running.
Physical Description
A Zeltron is Human in frame and proportion and unmistakable on sight. Skin ranges from light pink to deep crimson - the canon Zeltron youngling from A New Dawn is described as red-skinned, while the Zeltron who appears in the 2019 Galaxy's Edge comic and the Legends character Dani are both pink - and hair is most often red or blue, with Legends reference works adding brown, black, white, silver and pink to the range. Legends material gives an average height of about 1.8 meters, broken out elsewhere as roughly 1.8 meters for males and 1.65 for females. Build tends toward fit rather than bulky. For a people with a reputation for doing nothing but celebrating, Zeltrons put real effort into staying in shape, and that habit shows up in the athleticism that turns up in individual write-ups: King Arno was known for acrobatics as much as for poetry, and the four Zeltron youths assigned to Leia Organa in 4 ABY improvised their way out of a locked room at Kabray by hoisting one of their number to the ceiling to drop on a guard.
The parts that make them a separate species are the ones you cannot see. Zeltron pheromone production is constant and involuntary, strong enough that Legends sources reach for the Falleen as the obvious comparison, and its effect is on perception rather than physiology - people simply find a Zeltron more attractive and more likable than they would otherwise. The chemistry does nothing between Zeltrons, who are acclimated to it from birth and judge each other on ordinary merits. Paired with it is a limited telepathy, sometimes described as empathy rather than mind-reading, which lets a Zeltron push an emotion outward onto a nearby mind and also feel what that mind is holding. The receiving side is not a switch they control. Canon describes Zeltrons experiencing amplified versions of the feelings of those around them, with the strongest signal coming from people they are close to. How much the pheromones actually do is itself contested in-universe: Lorica Demaris notes the popular belief that Zeltron pheromones calm people down and admits she is not sure it is true, though she did settle an agitated Gigoran by petting her.
Aging figures differ between sources. The Legends species entry gives an average lifespan of up to 80 standard years. The Saga Edition age chart instead runs in six stages - child to about 11, young adult from 12 to 18, adult from 19 to 49, middle age from 50 to 64, old age from 65 to 79, and venerable from 80 - which treats 80 as the start of extreme old age rather than the end of life. Albinism occurs and is treated as a visible aberration rather than a cosmetic variation: Vianna D'Pow's albinism marked her out as an outsider among her own people from childhood, a detail that says more about Zeltron social expectation than about Zeltron biology. No source gives a Zeltron mass figure, so the weight range above is scaled from the sourced height range against Human baselines (Assumption: extrapolated, not recorded).
Culture & Personality
The cultural default is relentless good cheer, and it is not an affectation. Because a Zeltron feels the emotional state of the people nearby, a miserable neighbor is a personal problem rather than someone else's business, so Zeltron society organizes around happiness, love and pleasure and pushes anger, fear and depression to the margins. On Zeltros that produces behavior outsiders find either delightful or exhausting depending on temperament: Legends describes hedonism as the doctrine the Zeltrons actively encouraged, and says that a visitor who was visibly not enjoying themselves would be worked on until they were. Leia Organa disliked Zeltrons on sight, and Admiral Ackbar still assigned four of them to her staff in 4 ABY because the diplomatic relationship with Zeltros mattered more than her preference. They changed her mind by fighting for her, which is the pattern worth noting: Zeltron frivolity is real, and it is not the whole of them.
The discipline underneath gets taught before anything else. Canon material has Zeltron children told on their first day of grade school that they must not let their emotions lead them around - which is the kind of instruction a culture only issues when the danger is immediate and universal. The Saga Edition write-up describes the specific failure: a Zeltron is not ruled by the emotions of others, but sustained exposure to negative sentiment will eventually saturate them. That makes a Zeltron's emotional literacy a skill as much as a sense. Lorica Demaris sums it up in four words of self-description - 'I'm Zeltron. We know about feelings' - and she is making a claim about competence, not about sentiment. Raised among other Zeltrons, on whom the pheromones have no effect, they also learn early that charm is not a substitute for being right.
Individual Zeltrons range far enough that the species profile is a starting point rather than a prediction. Antos Wyrick, taken from his people as a young man by slavers, became the Mandalorian Wars' most clinical torturer of Jedi captives under the name Demagol. Vianna D'Pow, shunned at home for her albinism, went the other way into anger and violence and made a living as a thief and bounty hunter, eventually hired by Dooku to steal Jango Fett's cloning template on Kamino. Klias Teradine was a Jedi Padawan whose master had to keep lecturing him about humility. Deliah Blue ran a starship's engine room for a living and endured being used as a weapon against the man she flew with. Lorica Demaris joined a war to live up to a reputation she had been handed by mistake. Running against the stereotype is practically a Zeltron tradition, and the ones who leave Zeltros tend to be the ones already doing it.
Famous Zeltron Characters
Deliah Bluechief mechanic of the Mynock
A Zeltron from the Legacy comics who left behind a past of scams to join Cade Skywalker's crew, serving as mechanic aboard the Mynock alongside co-pilot Jariah Syn. She took the Helot-class medium transport built by Cade's uncle Nat Skywalker and modified it extensively, making her the reason the ship flew the way it did. She was Cade's companion and primary love interest, and that connection made her a target: Darth Maladi had her kidnapped and Yuuzhan Vong coral growths implanted on her back as leverage to push Cade toward the dark side.
Demagolthe flesh carver of the Mandalorian Wars
Born Antos Wyrick, he was abducted as a young man by Iskalloni slavers and later surfaced among the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders under the alias Doctor Demagol, a name contracted from the Mando'a for the flesh carver. At the Flashpoint Stellar Research Station in 3964 BBY he tortured and experimented on Jedi taken prisoner on Suurja, trying to isolate the source of their power; some subjects died under his instruments, and the Jedi known as Squint survived with the scars. He eventually rejoined the Mandalorian cause as Mandalore's chief scientist, and died in a mutually fatal confrontation with Chantique on Osadia.
Lorica DemarisResistance cadet with a borrowed reputation
The most prominent Zeltron in current canon, introduced in Join the Resistance. The galaxy credited her with destroying an illegal weapons cache she had no part in, and she enlisted in the Resistance against the First Order specifically to become the hero that story described, serving as a cadet in J-Squadron. She grew up not on Zeltros but on Kergans, where she attended the expensive Kergans Academy and loathed its bassa hound hunting lessons. Held captive on Vodran, she spent weeks working her Zeltron physiology for an escape.
Klias TeradineHigh Republic Padawan who fell on Mount Bikja
A Zeltron Padawan who trained on Alaris Prime under the Azumel Jedi Master Cibaba, alongside the Tholothian Padawan Tylera Yorrick, and who treated his master's repeated lectures on humility as a joke. In 241 BBY the two climbed to the Yallow Fellowship's shrine on Mount Bikja, where Teradine was corrupted by a vitalicron and attacked Yorrick, who killed him. The Order covered up his fate, leaving him remembered as an expulsion; a holojournal of his recording the Nightmare Conjunction was found by Sifo-Dyas in 88 BBY and shared with Dooku.
Vianna D'Powalbino bounty hunter and thief
An albino Zeltron whose coloring marked her as an outcast on Zeltros, shunned by her peers, and who turned to anger and violence in a culture that shuns both. She worked the Rise of the Empire era as a thief and bounty hunter, and around 22 BBY was hired by Dooku to steal Jango Fett's cloning DNA template from Kamino, losing it to Obi-Wan Kenobi in the ensuing fight. She also commissioned the Kaminoans to grow a single clone of herself.
DaniZeltron thief turned Alliance irregular
A pink-haired, pink-skinned Zeltron thief from the Marvel Star Wars comics who fell in with the Alliance after the Battle of Endor and was swept into the Nagai-Tof War. The Chuhkyvi Kiro of Iskalon fell in love with her, and the Nagai Den Siva developed an obsessive fixation on her that eventually drove him to betray his own people in exchange for her life. She is Legends only.
King Arnoelected monarch of Zeltros
The royal leader of Zeltros during the Galactic Civil War, chosen by his people under the planet's elective monarchy on the usual Zeltron criteria of combat, art, science and love. He was known for poetry, acrobatics and skill with the Zeltron lute. Shortly after the Battle of Endor he and his wife Leonie hosted Alliance visitors on Zeltros, only for the Hiromi to seize the palace and install their captain on the throne. He is a Legends figure, introduced in the 2004 roleplaying supplement Zeltros: Pleasure Planet.
Leonieelected queen of Zeltros
Arno's wife, ruling beside him as a popularly elected monarch around 4 ABY and selected on the same merits of combat, art, science and love. Her reputation rested on collecting art and fashion and on playing both the lute and the kloo horn. She shared the palace's loss to the Hiromi invasion in the aftermath of Endor. Like Arno, she is Legends material from Zeltros: Pleasure Planet.
