About the LR1K Sonic Cannon
The LR1K sonic cannon — the Geonosian sonic cannon, or simply the defense platform — is heavy artillery from the Gordarl Weaponsmiths, scaled up from the same sonic-blaster technology that armed their infantry. Internal oscillators wind a charge of high-impact concussive energy into a containment sphere, which holds its shape across the weapon's long reach until it strikes, then collapses into an omnidirectional blast that flattens everything around the point of impact. Four of them ringed the Petranaki execution arena and turned on the Jedi strike team the moment the fighting began, and many more were dug in across Geonosis to greet the clone landings. It is not a weapon a lone soldier carries into a running fight — braced and immobile, it rewards a prepared position and a clear field of fire, punishing anyone who tries to cross open ground toward the hive.
Notes
Emplacement weapon: it takes an action to brace or mount and cannot be fired while moving. Its concussive sphere is stabilized in flight and bursts omnidirectionally on impact — the GM may apply splash to targets adjacent to the point of impact. As a sonic pressure wave, its blasts cannot be deflected or redirected by a lightsaber.
