Lore
The YT-2000 light freighter is Corellian Engineering Corporation's beefed-up answer to its own YT-1300 — a saucer-shaped transport with its cockpit pushed out past the mandibles for a clear, unobstructed view, heavier shields and weapons than most civilian freighters, and 115 metric tons of cargo space, fifteen more than the Falcon's class. Its standout feature is a cockpit that breaks away as an emergency lifeboat.
Its history was rocky. Corporate spies leaked the design to rival shipyards, so CEC rushed the YT-2000 to market without properly testing its systems; the result handled a little 'touchy' and was discontinued early once the YT-2400 arrived. Even so it sold well — freighter captain Rikarda's Stellar Sun, which once carried Lando Calrissian to Zyzar to rescue his puffer pig, drew the compliment that 'this really is the best ship I've been on recently.'
For players the YT-2000 is the up-gunned, up-armored cousin of the YT-1300: two dual laser turrets, stronger shields, generous cargo, and famously nimble for its size — with that break-away cockpit as a last-ditch escape. A great pick for a crew that loves the classic Corellian freighter but wants more teeth.
