Traits
The Queen's meters-thick chitin plating grants a +7 bonus to AC (already included above) and, like all Geonosians, advantage on saving throws against radiation — she never suffers radiation sickness.
The Queen can't be knocked prone, moved against her will, or grappled. Eight-plus meters of egg-heavy chitin does not budge.
Geonosian allies within 60 feet can't be frightened and have advantage on saving throws. A non-Geonosian creature that starts its turn within 30 feet of the Queen must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom save or be unable to willingly move closer to her until the start of its next turn.
While the Queen lives, every Geonosian within 120 feet has advantage on attack rolls — the hive acts as one will. When the Queen is slain, all Undead Geonosians she raised instantly collapse, and every living Geonosian within 120 feet must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom save or be Frightened for 1 minute as the hive-mind shatters.
If the Queen fails a saving throw, she can choose to succeed instead.
At the start of each of her turns, if at least one Geonosian ally is within 30 feet, the Queen regains 10 hit points. The hive sustains her as she sustains it.
The Queen has advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened (the Jedi Guardian's Unbreakable Will) — she is the will the whole hive answers to.
Actions
The Queen makes two attacks: one with her Mandibles and one with a Crushing Limb.
(Recharge 5-6) The Queen drives her brain worms into the fallen. Up to 1d4 Geonosian corpses within 60 feet rise as Undead Geonosians (see that stat block) under her control, acting on her initiative.
(Bonus Action) The Queen lays and hatches a Geonosian Drone in an unoccupied space within 15 feet. She can have no more than six drones alive from this action at once.
Reactions
When the Queen is hit by an attack, one Geonosian ally within 15 feet can use its reaction to move to an unoccupied space between the Queen and the attacker and become the target of the attack, taking the hit in her place.
Lore
At the heart of every Geonosian hive is a queen — a colossal, egg-laying matriarch who never leaves her chamber and yet controls everything within it. She is the living hub of the hive mind, the low telepathic hum that binds drones, warriors, and aristocrats into a single will; her aristocracy rules the surface in her name, but she rules the aristocracy. The exemplar is Karina the Great, who ruled from beneath the Progate Temple during the Clone Wars, more than eight meters long, ceaselessly laying eggs to replenish her hive.
Karina had learned a terrible trick: using brain worms, she could reanimate the Geonosian dead and send them back into battle, an undying army under her command. A Jedi team that descended to end her found the catacombs full of the walking dead and very nearly did not climb back out. A hive queen is the reason a Geonosian faction is a siege and not a skirmish — kill her drones and she raises them again; kill her, and the entire hive falls silent at once.
In Play
The Queen is a set-piece boss built for a climactic hive-siege, not an open-field fight. She barely moves (speed 20, and Immovable Bulk means the party can't reposition her), so the encounter is about surviving the swarm she generates: Lay Brood adds a drone every round, Reanimate brings the dead back in waves, Brood-Fed Vigor heals her while allies stand near, and Pheromone Dominion physically keeps melee characters at bay while Hive-Mind Nexus supercharges every Geonosian on the map. With Legendary Resistance and Unbreakable Will she shrugs off save-or-suck control. The correct read is a damage race — clear the drones off her so she stops healing, then burn her down, because her death (Hive-Mind Nexus) collapses every husk and routs the living hive in one stroke. Give the party a reason to push in — a reactor to reach, captives to free — so they don't simply turtle at range.
Adventure Hooks
- Descent to the queen — Everything the party has fought so far — drones, warriors, the dead — has been the hive defending its heart. The trail leads down to a vast egg-chamber and the queen at the center of it, and the only way to stop the tide upstairs is to end her here.
- The trick she knows — Whispers say a queen deep in the catacombs has learned to raise the dead. A patron wants proof, a sample, or her head — and none of them are getting it without a fight through everything she can reanimate.
- Not just Geonosians — Karina tried, and failed, to turn her brain worms on the Jedi themselves. A surviving queen has not given up the ambition — and the party's own dead, or their minds, may be the next thing she reaches for.
