H-type Nubian Yacht

Star Yacht

Unarmed by design. Naboo built no weapons into it at all, and spent the mass on a layered Naboo-Gungan shield system, electronic countermeasures, a slim profile and sheltered engines - a ship built to not be found, and to leave before anyone decides otherwise.

Lore

Naboo does not build warships, and the H-type Nubian yacht is the clearest statement of that policy ever put into space. The Theed Palace Space Vessel Engineering Corps gave it forty-eight metres of mirror-polished chromium hull, a Nubian 150 core driving a Class 0.9 hyperdrive, a layered shield system co-designed with the Gungans, a full suite of electronic countermeasures - and not one weapon. The armament is none, and that is not an oversight or a cost saving. It is the design brief.

What Naboo spent the mass on instead is survival without violence. The Class 0.9 hyperdrive is faster than anything else a crew of this size is likely to fly; the layered shields hold while it spools; the slim profile and sheltered engine housings keep the sensor signature small enough that the question of shooting may never arise. An H-type is built to arrive unannounced, be somewhere expensive, and be gone before anybody has finished deciding how they feel about it.

That makes it a specific and unusual kind of ship to own. It will not win a fight - it cannot start one - and it carries only about sixty tons, because the volume that would be hold on a freighter is staterooms here. What it does is move a small number of important people a very long way, very quickly, in conditions that announce exactly how important they are. Senator Padme Amidala flew one to Coruscant in 22 BBY, which ended with the ship destroyed on the landing platform and her double dead in her place - a reminder that chromium and good shielding are not the same as safety.

For a crew, the appeal is the hyperdrive and the doors it opens. A yacht this conspicuously expensive gets berths, clearances and audiences a freighter never will, and the Class 0.9 means the long leg home is shorter than anyone chasing expects. The cost is that the first shot fired is somebody else's, and the only answer the ship has is to already be leaving.

(Assumption: no cargo capacity is recorded for the H-type. The figure here is derived - set low on the basis that this is a diplomatic yacht whose volume goes to passenger accommodation, and benchmarked against the Baudo-class Star Yacht in this catalog. Hull strength, structural integrity and handling are likewise benchmarked against comparable hulls. Length, crew, passengers, hyperdrive rating, shielding and the complete absence of armament are all sourced.)

How to use this chassis

These are the stock stats. Use the Starship Builder to name your ship, install upgrades (shields, armor, engines, hyperdrive, weapons, sensors), apply traits (Jury-Rigged, Hot-Shot, Salvaged, etc.), and export a printable sheet. For combat resolution, see the Starship Combat rules page.
